Where does the text come from?

Shadowbook: Writing Through the Digital, 2014-2018

Written by Miriam Rasch

How is the text structured?

In the original book, the text is divided into an essay (Matter Movement by Maria Fusco), an introduction and six essays written by the author over the course of four years (2014 - 2018).

For Strolling the Shadows, the text is divided into:

Categories

(common themes found throughout the original text)

Quotes

‘bridges between categories’

Paragraphs

Reshuffled sentences from the original text, put together depending on category.

How do you see the different categories?

The goal of the project is to allow you to stroll through the different categories by seeing some differences, but not knowing at all times where you are, in order to give you the opportunity to create your own opinion about the text.

As a result, you will discover the different categories through:

Typography

(each category has a specific font)

Layout

(quotes represent common ground for two or more categories, thus starting from a quote you will be able to make your way to all the categories.)

Legend

(at the top left of the screen you can find a drop-down legend, where you can see what font corresponds to each category.)
